The Age Test- Part 2

The concept of a "generation" is attributed to social scientist Karl Mannheim (1920s). A generation is a group of people who are programmed by events they share in history while growing up. The result of this "programming" are cohorts of people who share a common set of memories, expectations, and values based on headlines and heroes, music and mood, parenting style, and education systems.

Take this age test.  The more answers you know, the more likely you're likely a 'geezer' from the baby boomer or veteran generation. ' The less you know, you're likely a 'geek,' a Gen X or Gen Y.

The differences in age among employees working side by side will only widen in the coming years. The workplace will be increasingly characterized not just by an aging workforce, but also by increased age diversity.

The potential opportunities and clashpoints have profound implications for associations and businesses, which simultaneously must develop new leaders (geeks), challenge current leaders, and retain the wisdom and skills of longtime leaders (geezers).
